Transferring SQL Database - Configuring Client Network Utility

 

 
Step - 1

How to configure Client Network Utility

  • Select Client Network Utility from Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 7.0
  • Following is the screen displayed to configure a client to use TCP/IP

  • On the General tab, click Add
  • You will be displayed with the screen entitled Add Network Library Configuration 
    given below.

 

  • In the Server alias box, enter the alias of the computer running Microsoft SQL Server. The alias name could be of user's choice. In this example, it is given as "SQL Database".

  • Select TCP/IP under Network Libraries

  • Under the Connection parameters in the  Computer name box, give your website name. With TCP/IP, you can also specify the server with its IP address instead of its name, if you are aware of the IP address of the SQL server.

  • The Port number box, keep the default number value as 1433.

  • Click OK, you will see the client is configured on the Client Network Utility and click OK.

  • Follow the next step to register new SQL server.
